Deering Goodtime Plectrum Banjo

5 reviews

Specially designed for Dixieland or Traditional Jazz and tuned 4th to 1st String C,G,B,D for that style of music, the term Plectrum refers to the fact that they are played with a flat pick which in the old days was called a plectrum. The plectrum banjo in more recent times has found a home with guitar players who tune it like the last four strings of a guitar in D,G,B,E and use their guitar fingering making it very easy to play.

Made in the USA at the Deering shop with the same tooling we use to make the top of the line banjos, the Goodtime banjos are the lowest priced American made banjos. They are so good many professionals have recorded with Goodtime banjos – they are simple and durable and great playing.

If you want a great low priced jazz banjo for travel and leisure this is the quality best buy on the market!

Good Time Plectrum

This was the only place I could track down the oddly specific 4 string banjer I’ve been looking for. Took a while to get because they had to order it from the manufacturer, but well worth the wait. Customer service was very responsive to my shipping questions. It’s always better to support any one but Bezos. Buy from these guys.

My second banjo from Banjo Studio

Excellent! David is great to work with and both of my instruments came perfectly set up and ready-to-play. David is now my first choice for instruments and accessories.

Great New Banjo!

I am not new to the banjo, but just recently decided I wanted to branch off into the plectrum aspect, as I am already partly there with my background in classic style banjo and its C, G, B, D tuning. Instead of spending a large sum of money for this new venture, I decided on the Goodtime series of banjo by Deering, since I have one of the earlier 5-string models which I have played for years. The Banjo Studio was the only place where I could get a plectrum version, so after about 2 weeks, I finally received my banjo and really am loving it. I love a musical challenge and am really having fun learning and playing a quality instrument. Another great plus is that is weighs only about 4 pounds!
