Collings D2H Sunburst Dreadnought Guitar

This Collings D2H acoustic guitar is a beauty in Collings Guitars dreadnought guitar line. This Collings D2H features a beautiful sunburst stained Sitka spruce top and an ivoroid bound neck and peghead. This guitar really jumps out at you with its beauty and tone.

The Collings D2H model has become one of the standards of the classic American made rosewood dreadnought guitars. It aims for more balance between the bass and treble, so many players who have found rosewood D models by other makers to be lacking in brightness will be pleasantly surprised with the Collings D2H. While rosewood dreadnoughts are often thought of as primarily suited for bluegrass or backup, these have the “crunch and sparkle” that makes them far more versatile and work great for playing closed chord voicings and licks up the neck. The other difference that’s easy to notice is the superior fit and finish, a Collings guitar trademark you’ll find in all their models.

The square shouldered 14-fret dreadnought is the most popular steel string acoustic guitar body shape in the world. While Collings is certainly not the only company to build them, they bring a new tonal clarity to the depth and warmth usually associated with such a large, deep-bodied guitar. Although its bass response makes the dreadnought ideal for vocal accompaniment, Collings versions are also often employed by bluegrass flatpickers who must compete with inherently louder instruments such as banjos and fiddles.

Fantastic guitar and awesome buying experience!

Banjo Studio had one of the best-looking Collings on the web but I was unable to come in to try it out. David at Banjo Studio couldn't have been easier to deal with. I hesitated to buy a guitar via the web having not played the instrument; however David was quite informative with regard to how it played and how the guitar would work with my playing style. I received the guitar and its case in a well-packed shipping container. And yes, the heirloom guitar plays and sounds like nothing I've ever played before. Thanks Dave!
