Deering Sierra Maple 5-String Banjo with Linseed Oil Finish and Honey Amber Stain

A one of a kind Deering Sierra 5-string banjo that features a linseed oil finish and honey abmer stain instead of the standard stain and satin finish.  The linseed oil protects the wood from moisture, but gives the neck a very natural "woody" feel and really shows off the natural beauty of the maple wood used.

The linseed oil finish gives the player much faster playability on the neck in humid environments, as gloss finishes tend to feel "sticky" in humid environments.

Deering's most popular professional grade banjo for over 20 years.  Traditionally the Sierra has been made with a mahogany neck and resonator, but this model is made with a maple neck and resonator.  The maple neck gives the banjo a brighter, punchier sound that will cut right through the mix at a jam or onstage.  The brightness of maple gives you more of a traditional bluegrass banjo tone (Earl Scruggs played a maple banjo).

Greg Deering knows what it feels like to want a professional banjo and not be able to afford it, so this has become the flagship of their line. Deering makes the Sierra affordable and you get all the most important features that affect the tone and playability.
