Banjo Studio is on the mission of procuring great banjos for our customers. We want to offer banjos that play great, sound amazing and look great. This particular collection is an on-going partnership with Deering Banjos. They have been in business a long time and they are dedicated to make great instruments for their customers. A popular series of banjos for Deering, are the Artisan banjo. They wanted to make great playing and sounding, but affordable banjos. These are made in the USA. It started with the Goodtime banjos. They deliver what was intended and we all appreciate that. The original Goodtimes are made with violin grade maple and the look kept with the natural look of maple and they were equipped with guitar-stye tuners. The Artisan Series was the next level to the Goodtime series. They added planetary tuners, stained the maple a dark, rich brown color and added railroad spikes. This gave it a more traditional look.
On a recent trip out to Spring Valley, CA, we visited the factory. We were in the showroom looking at all the Goodtime Banjos. We loved the look of the bronze hardware on their baseline Goodtime. Right next to it was an Artisan Goodtime Americana with the Nickel hardware. We inquired on the option of swapping out the hardware to give it more a vintage look. Something that we seen players gravitate towards. Our rep, David Vega, suggested we also add in the Fiberskin head and a No-Knot Tailpiece and that tied it all together.
We are honored to be able to offer this vintage inspired Goodtime to our customers moving forward. Each piece will have a specific adjustment made, based on the the type of instrument that is offered. They will all start with bronze hardware and go from there. If you are looking for a warmer, deeper tone on a nice banjo, this is your option. If you are looking for a brighter tone, we also offer the standard model with the frosted top head.
