  • Get two banjos in one!  This is the perfect banjo for those of you who enjoy playing both bluegrass and old time music.  This would be my desert island banjo.  If I could only bring one banjo, this is the one.  It's versatility is unparalleled.

  • Maple neck, rim & resonator with brown satin finish, resonator pops off instantly for openback play, grenadillo wood tone ring, tube flange (bracket hooks attach through this nickel-plated tube which also holds the pop-on resonator), bound ebony fretboard with "Steamboat Gothic" inlay pattern & John Hartford's name inlaid at 21st fret, nickel plated hardware, resonator walls tapered for better projection. Deering wooden archtop hardshell case.

The wooden grenadillo tone ring gives you really unique tone.  It's bright yet not overpowering.  The banjo's tone will grow with age as well because the wooden tone ring will adjust to your playing and become deeper and richer with time.

The wooden tone ring and lack of a heavy one piece flange makes this banjo a lot lighter than traditional bluegrass style banjos so it won't kill your back either.  I haven't met someone yet who has played one and not been fascinated by its character of tone.
