The Deering Artisan Goodtime Americana banjo features a 12" rim, a scooped fingerboard for clawhammer playing, and a Midnight Maple fingerboard.
The 12" rim, scooped fingerboard, and renaissance head make this a fantastic old time banjo.
The Midnight Maple fingerboard is a separate maple fingerboard that is pressure stained so that the stain penetrates all the way through the wood. This will not wear off like other staining processes that just stain the outer coat of the wood.

DEERING ARTISAN GOODTIME AMERICANA 5-STRING BANJO WITH SCOOPED NECK I purchased this banjo after a several year layoff from banjos. I had severe arthritis in my fingers and hands. That has improved with work and I wanted to reenter the banjo world. This banjo did the trick. It plays very well and has good response. I broke me back in and I have now moved up to a Sierra. The Goodtime is an excellent entry banjo. I recommend it.
