This is my second Banjo , the first was a newer Recording King, now produced in China. It was a great first banjo for me to learn the ropes for the past few years. It was stolen from my front porch a few weeks ago, I’m a relatively new dad and was running around after my daughter, distracted, i guess i left it out for too long. Well, given these quarantine days, I didn’t want to wait to get another. I live in San Diego and had been to the Deering showroom and factory on a few trips, and sampled many of their banjos. I’ve taken to claw hammer so I especially loved the Vega. David had a Vega and an Ome in the price range I was looking for. Both gorgeous banjos , but I went with the one I had played, the Vega. The Vega i bought has a 12” rim, larger then those I had tried in past, and the sound is even prettier then the 11” versions in my opinion. The sound is beautiful; warm, rich, deep lower tones, and clear as a bell. I am beyond happy, getting to know this special instrument. Massive upgrade from my starter banjo. Dave gave me an excellent price, and if i go looking again in the future (hope not to need to for some time) , i would certainly consider using Banjo Studio again. Thanks Dave ! Happy pickin - stay safe!
Great to deal with. Fast shipping A+
I love my Old Tyme Wonder too. The fit and feel is excellent. It sounds great, but I am going to experiment with changing the head, to hear what it sounds like a bit brighter. That's just personal preference. I'm not sure if it was set up by David or Deering? I forgot to ask. I'm assuming Deering did the set up. Came perfect out of the case. Purchasing from David, at Banjo Studio is very easy. I bought the banjo at a fair price and had 7 days to return if not satisfied. Couldn't ask for more.
Six months ago I purchased a Goodtime Americana from Banjo Studio. I like it so much that when I saw the Vega Old Tyme Wonder with a 12“ pot and listened to the sound clip I figured it would be the perfect upgrade so I bought it. It arrived this afternoon. The included case fit it like a glove. The setup was perfect. It was even in tune. I still can’t believe how easy it is to fret. My first impression is that the banjo is nothing short than a work of art. It is beautiful to look at. It plays and feels as good in my hands as it looks, and it sounds so sweet it sends shivers up my spine. As far as I’m concerned, it doesn’t get much better than this. Brent Sims
